Europass, an initiative of the European Commission, provides standards for making your skills and competences clearly understood. The Europass portal provides information, tools and resource such as an online curriculum vitae generator and CV templates.
Interestingly, the templates are available both in the Microsoft Office format and the OpenOffice, which shows the European commissions intent to encourage a move away from proprietary formats.
